It Was William the Conqueror that began building, what is now known as the Tower of London, in 1078. the castle was built on the old Roman walls, which once formed the corner of Londinium. The first buildings were the White Tower and its Norman chapel, which is the oldest church in London. With all the blood, death and intrigue the White Tower has been involved with in its 900-year history, many peple call it The Bloody Tower, There have been literally hundreds of executions on Tower Hill.

The Tower of London Is one of the world's major tourist attractions. The Tower is also known as the White Tower and has many important buildings and collections to explore and educational about its 900-year history as a royal palace and fortress. Today the Tower of London is one of the world's most famous and spectacular fortresses. over 2.5 million visitors a year come to discover its long and eventful history.
