Bali Capital: Denpasar City And Markets
Denpasar is the capital of Bali. Is means ‘by the market’ and is Bali’s only real city. Denpasar rose to prominence during the last century, at a time when access to the sea and trade in opium, weapons and early manufactured products had become more important than control over the inland regions. Denpasar occupied the centre of the southern rice-growing plain, with direct access to Sanur and Benoa seaports in the east, Kuta in the west. At traditional market, you will find the transaction voice among buyer and merchant with multifarious merchandise according to the life need like daily kitchen need. Denpasar is home to a university, a museum of Balinese art, and the Konservatori Kerawitan, internationally famous as a centre for Balinese dance.
Denpasar is a cosmopolitan modern city that has grown rapidly. Like every visitor in Bali I was mostly limited to the to the markets because of the great shopping bargains. And to some of the many interesting temples that you can found every-ware in the capital city of Bali. The largest Balinese market in Denpasar is Pasar Badung, located on the banks of the Badung river in the center of downtown. In general if you are looking for town with element and local society activities in Bali, this is the right place.
