All About Khan El Khalili Bazaar:
Khan el-Khalili for many is the most entertaining part of Cairo, once known as the Turkish bazaar during the Ottoman period, is now usually just called Khan Khalili. The Khan Khalili is bordered on the south by al-Azhar Street and on the west by the al Muski Market. The market was built in 1382 by the Emir Djaharks el-Khalili in the heart of the Fatimid City. the al-Muski together with Khan El Khalili Bazaar they comprise and represent the market tradition which established Cairo as a major center of trade. If you are in Khan el-Khalili Bazaar you have to drink tea and smoke shisha, Naguib Mahfouz Cafe is a very famous spot, you can enjoy the eastern atmosphere and specially under eastern music.
As other attractions of Cairo belly dancing show is something that cannot be missed, there are many casinos with belly dancers shows most of them located at AL Haram street. Khan el-Khalili It is un ancient shopping area and one of the sights in Egypt that you should not miss. For me Khan Khalili is very interesting place to see such an arabic traditional market. It is a good example for the ancient arabic market actually. It exudes a truly amazing atmosphere, one of my favorite things there is watching the different groups of people coming from all over Egypt. Best time to visit is at night. I was particularly fascinated and I can add it as one of the best landmarks in Egypt.
