Koh Tao Travel Guide, Sairee Beach, Shark Bay, Nangyuan Island |
Koh
Tao In General
Koh
Tao was first discovered by backpackers a decade ago.
Is
a small island located off the coast of Ko Pha Ngan and Ko Samui.
Koh Tao is also called Turtle
Island and has been described as offering
'heaven under the sea', its main attraction being the incredible
snorkelling and scuba diving opportunities afforded in its clean,
clear waters. The Ko Tao's present day
economy is focused almost exclusively on tourism. The small island
is relatively easy to explore, and motorbike rentals and taxis are
abundant.
Sairee Beach
Sairee
Beach is the longest and
most popular beach, facing the mainland, which can be seen on a
clear day. It stretches almost 2 km from north to south on the west
side of the island. This crescent-shaped
beach, has a good choice of accommodation and places to eat making
it a popular spot for travellers. Along the beach there are plenty
of shops and restaurants. It's also a perfect spot for snorkelling
as the coral reef can be found just 100 metres off the beach.

Koh Tao Massage
Koh Tao has
always attracted those in search of a place to relax and recharge,
with many new age centres and
many massage, reflexology and beauty
salons scattered along the beach road.
Thai massage draws significant influence from India's ancient
Ayurvedic traditions of medical practice.
Traditional
Thai Massage is a fusion of eastern bodywork techniques ranging from
Acupressure to Yoga for a truly
Zen-like experience.
Rocky/Shark Bay
Just
on the other side of a strip of land from Chalok Baan Kao beach is
the private owned Shark
Bay. Shark
Beach has excellent snorkelling
opportunities where sharks can be sighted. One unusual resort
popular with backpackersis situated in the rocks on the southern
side of the bay. The beach is quite small with grass, coconut palms
and tropical vegetation right on the edge.
The beach is more active than its neighbour beach.
From Rocky Bay you have a nice view of Shark Island.

Koh Tao Nightlife
Ko
Tao is nothing to do with Samui and Ko Pha Ngan
but Sairee Beach has it all for party seekers,
bars pubs and clubs some with
live music
and local DJs. Some of
the most famous bars is Lotus Bar, Touch Beach Bar,
The Deck,
Dry Bar and Cave bar, Lotus Bar located under the
Horizontal Palm Tree on north Sairee Beach. The
bars
are generally a little more chilled, and a lot less crowded than the
huge full moon parties but with a bucket
of Thai Mekong whiskey being passed round
the dance floor you can quickly find yourself lost in a party that
will continue through to the early morning. For

Nangyuan Island
-
My journey in
Ko Tao is finish with
the best way, on nangyuan terrace you can see one of the
most beautiful sunsets of
the group of islands that make up the Samui Archipelago.
Koh Nang Yuan is an extra
ordinarily beautiful little island, lying just off the
coast of
Koh Tao. It's actually 3 small islands connected
by beaches.
The crystal clear water offers
total
peace.
