Nueve de Julio Avenue is the widest street in the world. And The Obelisk is city's most traditional monument and a meeting point for every visitor. At 127 metres wide, Avenida 9 de Julio is claimed to be the widest avenue in the world. Honouring Argentina's Independence Day which falls on 9th July. Buenos Aires Obelisk have 206 steps stairs to climb up to the roof. The complete construction of the Obelisk took only 31 days back in 1936. It is located in the center of the Plaza de la República. Is the spot where the Argentine flag was flown for the first time in Buenos Aires. The image of the Obelisk is one that is commonly used to represent Buenos Aires and Argentina. It has also been used as a place to subtly display political messages. The obelisk is lit up bright white at night and the gleams of the surrounding neon billboards give the area its unique and colourful atmosphere.
