The falls are part of a singular practically virgin jungle ecosystem protected by the Argentine and Brazilian national parks.

The Brazilian side gives the best idea of their sheer size and view, and there are helicopter rides out over the falls from Foz do Iguaçu. You may also take boat rides out to the falls. You need one day to visit the falls including the bird park Parque das Aves, 100m from the entrance to the falls.

gives a great opportunity to see some amazin exotic birds from very close, Flamingos, parrots, herons, egrets and toucans are some of the more colorful inhabitants of the privately run Parque das Aves. Set in 4.8 hectares of lush subtropical rainforest, right outside the Parque Nacional Foz do Iguaçu. Entrance cost around $10 US. The "Paranaense" jungle has more than 2.000 species of plants, tall trees, beautiful orchids and delicious palm cabbage. You need at list 2 hours to see all of the park. The Parque das Aves includes Iguanas, alligators, snakes and more.
