Place du Tertre was the main place of the Village of Paris Montmartre, Actually is the heart and soul of Montmartre. Now, it is a small square place occupied by the outside tables of the restaurants and bistrots and by the artists. The Place du Tertre is a reminder of the time when Montmartre was setting the trend of modern art: at the beginning of the 20^th century, many pennyless painters,  including Pablo Picasso and Utrillo, were living there. This cobblestone square is Montmartre rises out of the flatness of Paris with its myriad of small streets.

Montmartre Guide. Is one of my favorite places in Paris. I like it there because you can see artists panders and sketches from all over the world there are here at all times of year. Montmartre is well known as the last village in Paris. Around the Place du Tertre, you can see that Montmartre was once a small village within a big city. Many people come to lose themselves in the historic village atmosphere. You can begin your walk at any point along the base of the hill, or take the metro to Abbesses station and step out into the heart of Montmartre. I went there by feet and it was hard.
