Lantau-Island
Of all the outlying islands,
the greatest in size and in atmosphere is Lantau. With a land
mass twice that of Hong Kong Island. In Cantonese, Lantau
means 'broken head'. The population is not more than 25,000
people. The Po Lin Monastery
is located
on western
Lantau island and above Lantau's central
mountain range.
Is the islands
best known attraction
known as the 'Buddhist Kingdom in the South, and it is one of
the well-established Buddhist monasteries in
Hong Kong. Serving as a Buddhist retreat, this monastery was
originally built by three monks in 1920 with only a shrine dedicated
to Buddha. The main building at the monastery is the temple and many
monks gradually settled there. Outside of Po Lin monastery the Tian Tan Buddha is a large bronze
statue. Also known as the Giant Buddha, it is the world's tallest
outdoor seated bronze Buddha. is 34 meters high and weights 250
tons. It symbolizes the harmonious relationship between man and
nature, people and religion.

you have to take the Star Ferry across to Hong Kong Island
and then take the Lantau Ferry.
Is
one of the places that is must when you travelling in Hong Kong.
Actually for me was the best spot on my trip to Hong Kong.

Big Buddha.
Tian Tan Buddha
is
the landmark of Hong Kong, is a marriage
of religious culture and sculpture. If you have
