Rhodes old town is encircled by strong mediaeval walls "a typical example of the techniques of the fortification of the 14th -15th century to protect the city from all dangers, whether coming from land or sea. A tour of the medieval town is quite a lengthy business, given the number of monuments there are to see. The walls with their bastions, battlements, towers, gates cause one to gasp in wonder.
