In General
Salvador
is the capital of the state of Bahia
and the largest city in north-eastern Brazil.
The city lies between green tropical hills and broad
beaches along the bay of Todos os Santos.
Was the
first town to be founded in Brazil by
Thome de Souza, the Portuguese governor of Brazil, on 29th
of March in 1549.
It was the seat of
the Portuguese colony for almost
two centuries. The legacy remains today in
its large black population, and the resulting culture in many ways
outshines the rest of Brazil.
In music, many of the greatest names from
the mid-20th century to the present hail from Salvador.
