Sihanoukville, is Cambodia's fourth largest city was developed from the jungle into the country's first and only deepwater port in late 1950s. located at the southwest region of Cambodia. The original name of the city, was Kampong Som, was changed to the present one in honor of the king. Sihanoukville plays an important role as Cambodia's major coastal tourist resort, with clear beaches, Casinos, new bars, restaurants and hotels springing up everyday, Virtually all of Cambodia's waterborne trade passes through the Port of Sihanoukville which is the largest port in Cambodia. The beaches, which are about a mile from the town centre are beautiful with crystal clear aquamarine waters.
